Southern Pools focuses on jobs in the design/build market, not the specification market. They rely on their strong reputation to increase their business, so choosing a supplier that could meet all of its requirements was imperative. “We chose Pentair for their products’ quality, affordability and availability,” noted Phillips.
Southern Pools is currently using Pentair’s Triton filters and C Series pumps, but hopes to also use the new Two Head Smoothie (THS) Series sand filters in the future. “The management company here is not big on multi-pump systems,” said the Southern Pools consultant. “Pentair’s one-pump system runs more efficiently, there is less plumbing involved and the product lasts longer. Plus, since most equipment rooms are so small, one product takes up less room than using a multi-product system.”
“In their demographic area, the Triton 140C is a constant for them to use. Using multiple Triton filters allows Southern to backwash one filter at a time and thus control the amount of water that goes through the backwash line. The Triton filter also is a quality, low maintenance sand filter that we can use for many years without having to replace them. Not having to clean or change cartridges very often is nice.”
“For the amount of water you can filter through the Triton’s, I can’t find any other product financially better. Because we are limited to how many gallons of water we can push away at one time, going with a larger filter wouldn’t give us an effective cleaning system, which is why we choose to remain with the Triton line.”
Southern has used 10 Triton filters at one facility before and up to 5 on one pool. “At Skybrook Country Club, for example, a job we recently completed, we are using 8 Triton 140’s, 1 Triton 100 and 3 C Series pumps. We couldn’t be more pleased.”
For over 13 years, Southern Pools has depended on Pentair Pool Products and they are not planning on leaving. “They have a great track record with their commercial filters and pumps, and their products are always available and price competitive,” stated Phillips. “We have built a great relationship with Pentair over the years and that is why we continue to use them and will not change.”
